Big Boy-- Adopted!! Thank you Jennifer and Chris!! Orange & white neutered male approximately 2 years old. Big Boy is a big beautiful boy! And he has had a pretty rough young life... he was "dumped" at the "pound" by his original owner with no explanation ... he was a cat who seemed to want to be affectionate but then would hide not wanting to be handled ... eventually we found the cause of all this: he had very painful gum inflammation ... think about how a single tooth ache can make you miserible until you get it fixed... this poor guy went months (possibly even longer as he came to us with this condition and perhaps that is why his previous owner "dumped" him)with his entire mouth constantly hurting him!! As soon as we diagnosed it properly we were able to get him the appropriate medication to battle the inflammation. And as soon as the meds started taking effect reducing the pain in his mouth he became a different cat!! Very outgoing with people, and quick to rub up on you hoping for a pat!! Big Boy would likely do best in a household where he is either the only cat or with just one or two other adult cats ... currently in my care the poor guy has to put up with a whole bunch of kittens/cats sharing his space, as many as 20 or more which is a bit overwhelming to him! When I brought him into my house (I have a separate foster center where most of the kittens/cats stay the majority of the time) it was like he had gone to heaven!! He immediately went to my bedroom, jumped up on a chair with a cushion and settled right in as if that was where he was meant to be!! So in the right environment he is as nice of a cat as you could hope for!! Currently he is still on medication that he takes every 3 days but we are still trying to determine the cause behind the inflammation and are in hopes that if we do find out then it can be treated once and for all and be done with it ... if not then there is still the possibility that he would need ongoing medication but eventually it may need to be given only once a month if at all. He is completely litterbox trained, doesn't spray at all (and if he doesn't spray in my household with so many other cats around him, including other adult males, then extremely unlikely that he would ever spray in someone else's household.) He doesn't scratch furniture, instead likes to stretch his front paws on a sisal twine scratching post and on the Turbo scratcher. He's an indoor cat and prefer to remain so, protected from hazards of the outdoors. And he is ready to go home with his new family where he will get the one on one attention he craves and not have to share space with so many other kittens & cats! His adoption fee is only $40.
