Update -- Nov 2, 2012 -- Miki has been adopted!! Miki is a female, spayed, 14 year old, blind, calico Japanese Bobtail (JBT). Even though she is 14 years old, she is in great health, with the exception of her being blind and a current dental issue. This dental issue will be taken care of prior to her adoption by her current foster parent. She is a very sweet, old gal but she has lots of life left in her. JBTs have been known to have long lifespans and her current foster family also has another JBT who is over 17 years old now. She is a very vocal girl who loves to sing when you pet her, which is also typical for her breed. There have been no litter box issues and she has all of her claws. She is not a playful kitty and would prefer to lounge in the sun or next to you on the couch being brushed. She loves the brush and her kitty bed. She doesn't get along with other cats, so her preferred home would be one without cats. JBTs are not usually good with children so she should also find a furever home with no children at all. She is managing her blindness pretty well in her new environment, but can be startled easily, When approached she is fine when you continue to call her name and then slowly brush the whiskers above her eyes. Once you do that, she will sniff and then give head butts to your hands. Miki was rescued from a shelter by a breeder who found out to late she was already spayed. She was rescued from the breeder when a notice was posted on a rescue board stating she was to be taken back to the shelter in one week. We just couldn't let this happen to her again. She already survived once having been picked up off of the streets in Titusville, FL and labeled "wild" by the shelter who obviously didn't understand the extent of her vision issues and then secondly from the shelter. She is not a "wild" or "feral" cat; she was just disoriented and scared from malnutrition, dehydration and being blind out on the streets. She has not once acted "wild" with her foster family and is an absolute sweetheart. She is deserving of a family who will love her and allow her to live out her days in comfort. She was given the Japanese name of Miki by her current foster family. Miki means 美 (mi) "beautiful" and 紀 (ki) "chronicle/story". Won't you help her to live up to her name?
